Paper Port Viewer locks up during installation or unable to view images

From your Desktop select "Ctrl - Alt & Delete" the Close Program window appears. Shut down all programs except "explorer". Use you mouse to left click on an item then choose End Task, you will have to reopen the Close Program window after each End Task.

With the Detroit Iron in your CD drive: left click on Start menu up to Run, left click in the Run window type in  D:\PPVSetup.exe "with D being your CD drive letter". Select OK, this will install PaperPort viewer. Follow default settings to install.

Note: You do not have to Restart your computer after the installation is complete.

All we are doing is closing all programs nothing is being removed the next time the computer is restarted everything that we shut down will be running.

unabletoconvert.mde

This is the update for "unable to convert .mde" caused by Microsoft Access2000 program. Verify you have Access2000 on your computer.

  1. Go through the normal installation for the Detroit Iron CD manual including PaperPort viewer “ You do not have to restart the computer “.
    Be sure and close all open programs!!


  2. Download the Detroit Iron Update patch to your desktop.


  3. Open the DetroitUpdate patch on your desktop, when asked select Unzip. When WinZip has completed select OK – then Close. It will automatically extract itself into the C:\Program Files\Detroit Iron directory. If you have changed the default directory, click on Browse and put in the path to the directory you have placed the Detroit Iron files.


  4. Right click on "Start" up to then left click on "Explore"


  5. On the left side of screen locate your CD drive that contains the Detroit CD "note the drive letter", left click on the file name, on the right side locate the program name. For the example we are using a 1969 Chevrolet. The name is CH69.mde other examples could be PONT66.mde - FORD72.mde. Write the name just as shown to use later.

    NOTE: your computers extensions may be turned off there for the .mde will not show


  6. Locate "+Program Files" folder left click on +, then locate "Detroit Iron" folder and left click on it.


  7. Open the "DetroitUpdate.mdb" file when ask to Enter Full Path Name type D:\CH69.mde “just as shown on the CD” with D being the CD that contains your Detroit Iron CD. Select OK

    NOTE: CH69.mde is our example us your name be sure and include the .mde


  8. When the Update is complete select OK. “It will open the  program to show that it has completed the update” Select Exit in upper left corner.


  9. Right click on the "DetroitUpdate" file "the one that you opened" select "Create Shortcut" and left click.


  10. The newly created "Shortcut to DetroitUpdate" right click on it, then left click on "Cut".


  11. Right click on Start then left click on Open "with XP or 2000 select Open All Users", Locate and open the Programs folder, Locate and open Detroit Iron folder.


  12. Right click anywhere inside the Detroit folder and select "Paste"
  13. Right click on the 1969 Chevrolet "your CD title", then left click on "Delete" Yes you are sure when ask.


  14. On the "Shortcut to DetroitUpdate" right click and left click on "Rename" type in 1969 Chevrolet "your title goes here".


  15. Close all open windows and folders. Go to Start then Programs - Detroit Iron - 1969 Chevrolet "your title here". Your Detroit Iron CD manual is now updated.

UnableToPrint

Select PaperPort Viewer for Windows, download the 7.0 to your hard drive, then follow the installations instructions below.

Paper Port Viewer Version 7.0

  1. Install 7.0 viewer into its default locations


  2. Right click on Start, left click on Explore


  3. Left side of screen locate Program Files left  click on the +


  4. Scroll down to Scansoft then left click on the +


  5. Left click on the PaperPort Viewer folder


  6. On the right side of screen locate then right click on PPViewer.exe, select copy


  7. On left side of screen locate the ppviewer folder and left click on it


  8. On the right side of screen right click and select Paste. When ask select Yes to over write existing version.


  9. Left click on Start then Run In the run window type in regedit then select OK


  10. In the Registry window select the + next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE


  11. Locate Software then select the +


  12. Scroll down to Visioneer then select the +


  13. Locate the folder PaperPort Viewer then select the +


  14. Left click the 7.0 folder on the right side of screen, on right side of screen double click on Default.


  15. For the default value type in c:\ppviewer\ppviewer.exe then select OK.


  16. Left click on the Directories Folder, then double click to open MaxProgram on right side of screen.


  17. The value data type in C:\ppviewer.exe then OK<


  18. Close all open windows the update is complete.

Runtime Error 7 Out of Memory

fm2paste Download

This is caused by a missing FM20.dll file in Windows Operating Systems. With your CD in the drive type in D:\fm2paste.exe and follow on screen instructions. Replace D with your correct drive letter. If you are unable to run the fm2paste.exe from your CD then save this link to your computer and install from there.

Update Version 2


Detroit Iron operating software now available.

This resolves the "unable to convert .mde", the need to install each additional CD manual, updates the viewer program, installs printer driver updates, and enhances the Home screen for easier Book - category then subcategory selections. For your free upgrade follow the instructions below.

  • Save this file to your computerDetroit Iron 2.0 Update
  • Note the location saved in and file name "Detroit20Update.exe".

  • Uninstall your current version of Detroit Iron Information System program.


  • Double click to open the Detroit Iron Update 2.0 saved to your computer in step one.


  • Select Unzip


  • Window - Extract and Install Detroit Iron2.0 select "OK"


  • Window - WinZip Self-Extractor shows "Extracting....Please Wait" go ahead and select "Setup"


  • Then follow the on screen installation instructions to default locations.


  • Place your CD manual in to the CD drive in the autorun window select Close.


  • Left click on Start - Programs - Detroit Iron - Detroit Iron 2.0.

If you have one or more then one CD manual the Update only requires one installation. Place the correct CD to retrieve needed data from, in to the CD drive, our program will read that CD manual. The shortcut Detroit Iron 2.0 will operate all your Detroit Iron CD manuals.

Clear Detroit's Registry


Select and then save to your computer the option below. With W2K being for XP and 2000 and W98 for ME, 98 operating programs. VISTA FIX: Install using default locations, then go to "start", "all
programs", "detroit iron folder", Right click on the Detroit Iron icon
and choose "properties", choose the "compatibility" tab and choose "Windows
98" or XP, then click "apply". Then, Right click on the Detroit Iron icon
again and choose "run as administrator".
